Setting up a tariff
A tariff will need to be set up for each band that you would like to bill, and for each supply type which you would like to bill. Click Tariffs and Bands on the system configuration page, then search for the band to which you would like to add a tariff.
Clicking the Add Tariff button will open a form for you to complete.
Choose your supply type, and add a custom tariff name that is relevant to you and your residents. You can also define a tariff code (if you have one) and VAT rate at this stage.
Your Active From Date will need to cover the start date of your first bill at a minimum, if this is the first ever tariff that you are setting up on the band. If the tariff is being added as part of a tariff changeover, the start date will need to be the day after you end the old tariff. For information on updating a tariff please see our support article here:
Click Add Tariff to add the tariff skeleton to the band. Remember, at this point no charge rates have been added to the tariff so they will need to be added too! See below for how to do this.
Adding charges to a tariff
Once the tariff skeleton has been added, it is possible to add values for the unit charges, standing charges and property area charges. This can all be completed from the Tariffs and Bands section of the System Configuration page.
Click "Show" on the band where you would like to add a charge. You can see how many charges have already been added to the tariff by looking at the Active Unit charges section, as with the Standing charges and Property Area charges. To check individual charge rates which have been added, click the eye icon on the right of the screen.
Clicking the Add Unit Charge button will open a form for you to complete. You will need to add a name for the unit charge, the value of the charge itself and choose the unit which you wish to bill in. Once you have filled in the required fields click Add Unit Charge. Unit charges are billed based on the amount of energy the resident is using.
Standing charges and property area charges can be added in exactly the same way, by clicking their respective buttons. Standing charge are a daily charge billed to the resident, regardless of whether they are using their utilities, and property area charges based on the size of the property and will appear on each statement which is raised for the property. Property area can be added at the point of property upload, or from the setup menu. For information on uploading a property check out our article here:
Admin charges can be added if you would like to charge a daily fee outside of the utilites. For more information on Admin Charges, check out our help article here!
Points to remember:
You must have an active tariff to be able to bill. This includes one unit charge at a minimum, standing charges and property area charges are optional.
Adding a tariff adds the tariff skeleton, the charges must be added separately.
