General Overview & Impact
A large chunk of Orbit functionality is going live this release. We have made changes so that
we only save hub, meter and supply controller information in the Orbit API, for the hubs which
are in PAYG mode. This means that the API is only acting as a PAYG system, which is exactly
what it is! This is the first step towards achieving an important goal for Orbit, which is to allow
an Orbit user to bill different supplies in different modes, on the same property.
It will now be possible to add a PayPoint URL to a client in Mabdeck, to display to a
customer in both the online account, and in the app. This is a solution available to customers
whose residents make payments via PayPoint Online, where a full PayPoint Online integration
is not available. This will allow customers to access the PayPoint payment page via the online
account and the app.
This release builds on the Security Deposit functionality created by our colleagues at FIT,
for use in the UAE market. The new functionality will automatically refund a security deposit
back to the resident, upon moving them out of the property.
As part of the ongoing work to upgrade Mabdeck, there are some more changes in this
release which will help towards that, including upgrading the Readings API version, and
removal of some unused database tables. Although you won't be able to see the changes
themselves, be assured that the code is being tweaked and improved in the background, and
we hope your front end experience will become a lot smoother as a result of this too.
