Mabdeck allows you to specify both the owners and tenants of a property, so that any statements which are raised will automatically be generated in the name of the owner, should their be a void period.
When moving accounts into a property for the first time, you will need to specify who will be the owners and tenants of the property. You'd only ever need to complete this process once, when you're occupying the property for the first time. From then on, any owner or tenant changes would be reflected in Mabdeck by completing a change of tenancy. For details on how to do this, check out our Completing a Change of Tenancy help article.
Before you begin: Make sure you have created all of your owner and tenant accounts in Mabdeck first. If you're not sure on how to do this, check out our help article here!
Set up your Owners and Tenants
You can set up an owner and tenant on an unoccupied property from the property page. Click the properties tab on the left and search for the property which you would like to populate. Your property will be blank at the moment, ready for the owners and tenants to be set up.
If the property is not blank and you can see that owner and tenant accounts have already been added, then you will need to complete a change of tenancy instead.
Click the pencil icon next to the owner name to open the setup form.
Select both your Owner account and Tenant account from the dropdown lists. If you cannot see an account in the list, then you will need to create one. Click the add button to do this.
If your owner is also the tenant of the property, or if the owner will be responsible for the initial bills, then just select the same account in both fields.
Your start date should be the move in date of the tenant, or the date you would like the first bill to generate from.
Click Save to save your changes. If you refresh the page you should see that your new owner and tenant have now been set up!
Setting up multiple owners and tenants?
If you're setting up the owners and tenants for multiple properties, you may want to use a bulk import spreadsheet instead. This allows you to move in many accounts at the same time, which is especially helpful when you have a lot of properties to set up!
Our bulk import spreadsheets can be found on the second tab of the Mabdeck menu. Click on Initial Property Owners to download a template. For more information on bulk importing data, check out our help article.
