If your network is a site which offers pre-payment, then it will need to be set up as a pre-payment network rather than a normal billing network. You can check out our help article here for information on how to do this.
You will also need to add additional hardware to Mabdeck in the form of a hub.
A hub is used to transmit data, similar to a data collection unit, through which you can manage the pre-payment account. The hub enables you to keep track of and record meter readings, as well as control supply valves. It is possible to communicate with the hub whenever you need to, and it is possible to generate a snapshot of the status of a hub at an exact moment in time, through Mabdeck. You are only able to add one hub per property.
Hubs can be found on the Hardware and Supplies page in Mabdeck.
Adding a Hub
A hub can be added from the Hardware & Supplies section of the System Configuration page. Click Add Hub to open the setup form.
Select the client, network and property that the hub is linked to from the available fields. Your hub manufacturer will be prepopulated based on the manufacturer you chose when adding the network but you can select your hub model from the setup form too.
Enter the hub serial number as it appears on the prepayment unit, then select your hub start date. The start date should be the install date of the hub, or the date you want to start receive readings in Mabdeck.
If you have selected Secure as your Hub Manufacturer, you will also be required to provide an Identifier. This will be the hub HPAN.
Click Add Hub to save the hub to Mabdeck. Please note that once added, the hub pre-payment status will default to “Credit”. This can be amended on the account page for the resident moved into the property, check out our help article for tips on how to change the billing mode!
Click "show" on a property from the Hardware and Supplies page to view details for a hub which has been added. You can make changes to the hub by clicking the edit cog, or delete it from here too.
Adding multiple hubs?
If you're uploading multiple hubs all in one go, you may want to use a bulk import spreadsheet instead. This allows you to upload multiple hubs into the system at the same time, which is especially helpful when you're setting up a PAYG network for the first time.
Our bulk import spreadsheets can be found on the second tab of the Mabdeck menu. Click on Hubs to download a template. For more information on bulk importing data, check out our help article.
