Most readings will go into Mabdeck automatically via one of our Data Robots, so you don't need to worry about uploading meter readings manually if this is the case. In the instance where your file format is not compatible with any of our robots, the readings will need to be uploaded manually.
If you only need to add a couple of meter readings, this can be done individually through the property page rather than uploading a bulk import template.
Uploading Readings
Uploading readings can be done from the property page, or from the account page of the resident who is moved into the property you would like to upload readings to.
Navigate to the property or account page where you would like to upload readings, and scroll to the Upload Meter Readings section of the page. To find this section on the account page, you will just need to click the Supplies & Meters tab.
Choose the supply type and serial number you would like to add the readings to from here, as well as selecting your reading date. This will be the date that the reading was taken from the meter, and will not necessarily be today's date.
Enter your reading value into the Reading field. The reading unit will automatically be selected for you based on the unit of the meter that has been added to Mabdeck.
You can also selected the type of reading which you are adding. It's likely that this will just be the meter reading itself, however you can also add temperature and flow values here if you need to.
Handy Tip: Make sure to check that your reading has the correct number of decimal places before adding it! The reading on the front of the meter may show in a different unit to the meter on Mabdeck, so just check that they are the same before adding it!
In some cases, the decimals may be highlighted in a different colour on the front of the meter too.
If you're not sure if you're adding the reading in the correct format, get in touch with our Support Team who will be able to help you.
If you're adding multiple values for the same date, on the same meter, you can click the add reading to provide additional fields. This may be useful if you want to add in readings, temperatures and flow values all at the same time.
Click Save to save the readings to Mabdeck. All readings which are added will be validated to ensure that they fall in line with all other readings on the meter, and that no meter issues have been detected. For more information on Validation in Mabdeck and how this works, check out our help article.
You'll receive a notification once your reading has been uploaded successfully, and has been posted to Mabdeck. Once it has been added successfully it will be available to use on statements, and will appear on reports.
Meter Reading Types
Mabdeck offers a range of reading types, so that you can identify how readings have been added to the system, and the legitimacy of the readings. Readings added via the property page will be classed as a Client Manual Reading, but this can be amended by using the edit meter reading tool. You can find out more information on this by checking out our help article here!
Uploading Multiple Meter Readings?
If you're uploading multiple readings for multiple properties, you may want to use a bulk import spreadsheet instead. This allows you to upload a large number of readings into the system at the same time, which will save you a sufficient amount of time.
For readings uploaded using the bulk import spreadsheet, you can choose your Read Type from the list above.
Our bulk import spreadsheets can be found on the second tab of the Mabdeck menu. Click on Meter Readings to download a template. For more information on bulk importing data, check out our help article here.
